Hero Engine

This week we made 3 slideshows on the hero engine . The hero engine is a Steam Powered ko-engine which spins, we didn't do the steam version but we did it with water because it was too dangerous with the stem. We did the hero engine task to learn more about the hero and his inventions. I learnt that if you use one variable at a time you  gain more information.  I learnt  that  small holes in the can make it spin to make the water power the engine.  I definitely enjoyed making and testing the hero engine. I thought it was fascinating how the water moved. I enjoyed how the variables changed and made me think about the other ways I could do things.  I really want to know if I could poke 20 holes in the bottom of the can and if that would work.

Please enjoy my 3 slide shows...

  1. Great work Theo! You have explained really well the different options you tried and the results. I was intrigued how your can went one way and then back the other way... did it change direction after the water had run out?
If so I am wondering if there might be another force involved that made it spin the other way?
I am also wondering if you tried 20 holes in a can?
    Well done!

  2. Excellent explanation of the way the Hero Engine works! It seems that the smaller holes spun more times? I wonder why!
I am glad that you enjoyed this learning Theo! KaPai! 👍
